Antique Bronze Classical Urn - Circa 1880

A very finely cast and chased antique bronze baluster shaped urn after the design by Claude Ballin; the handles showing Janus heads; these vases were based on a series of thirteen large vases made for the gardens at Versailles, later copies were made for the Marquis de Hertford for his Chateau de Bagatelle and later for Richard Wallace (Wallace Collection London); likely cast either by the firm of Barabezat, Barbedienne or Beurdeley; circa 1880.
