Signed French Empire Mantel Clock - Seated Athena on Griotte Marble BaseA truly monumental palace scale period French Empire mantel clock; the base of red griotte marble supports a large seated winged goddess, her right hand holding artistic tools, her left hand holding a large horn of plenty; various other artistic attributes rest at her feet; the gilt bronze of the finest quality; the case is attributed to Thomire; the white enamel Roman numeral chapter ring is signed LeRoy as is the movement backplate; circa 1810; a similar example can be found in the Spanish Royal clock collection.
